Home Energy Rebates
Save money while making your home more energy-efficient
Home energy rebates help you get money back on home improvements that can make your home more energy efficient, comfortable, and help you save on utility costs in the long run. Some of these rebates are available as standard up front discounts on the equipment or installation costs, and other rebates are determined based on the type of work you want done.

Program Details
Wisconsin has two rebate funds available - a Home Efficiency Rebate (HOMES) and HEAR (Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates). These rebates help Wisconsin homeowners afford home improvements that make homes more comfortable, and can help households save on utility costs in the long run.
What can you get?
Households qualify for rebates based on how much energy they’re expected to save and their household income. Customers can be eligible for 50-100% of project costs, depending on your income and how much energy the project is estimated to save. The more energy you save, the more rebate funding you can expect to receive! Almost any home improvement project that results in energy savings may qualify, including insulation, air sealing, and more efficient heating and cooling equipment.
Who is eligible?
All homeowners in Wisconsin are eligible for HOMES rebates. Households with incomes less than 80% AMI may receive 100% of project costs, up to $10,000, households with income between 80-150% AMI may receive 50% of project costs, up to $4,000 and households with income over 150% AMI may receive 50% of project costs, up to $3,000. How to apply
Focus on Energy is the organization in charge of implementing the HOMES rebate program in Wisconsin. They recommend getting in touch with an IRA Registered Contractor first. Then they will help you get an energy assessment done. This is a required step to tell you how much energy your house currently uses, identify opportunities to achieve savings, and figure out what rebates you would likely qualify for.
Next, your contractor will help you get verified to participate in the program with Focus On Energy. This will confirm how much the rebates will be for the work you decide to do on your home. Once you and your contractor decide what projects to move forward with, the contractor will do the paperwork to make sure you see those rebates and get the work done.
