We know a lot of folks are worried about their SNAP benefits right now, and rightfully so. Here’s what’s going on and what you can do.

The Latest

The federal government is shut down, and that means delays are coming for SNAP benefits — because SNAP is 100% federally funded. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, which runs SNAP, has a $6 billion emergency fund that could help keep money in your wallet.

But they’ve said they won’t use it. Until President Trump & Congress agree on new funding to reopen the government, millions of families could see delays in getting food assistance.

Some states may try to step in with temporary help, but most don’t have the budget to replace federal money. Check directly with your state’s SNAP office for updates on when you’ll get your money from November.
