Allegheny County offers low-cost loans to fix up your house

The Alleghany County Home Improvement Loan Program offers eligible county residents zero-interest loans to help them rehabilitate and improve their homes. A list of the types of eligible projects can be found here.

Eligible participants must own and live year-round in a residential, single-family dwelling in Allegheny County.

Homes in the following municipalities are not eligible for funding through AHILP:

  • City of Pittsburgh (all wards)

  • City of McKeesport (all wards)

  • Penn Hills

  • Trafford

  • McDonald

  • Sewickley Hills

Income thresholds per household size can be found here.

To apply, complete and mail in the application to the Alleghany County Home Improvement Loan Program (AHILP) at the address on the form. Afterwards, AHILP will let you know if you are qualified, and help you through the process of home inspection, contractor selection, and loan closing.
