Home Energy Rebates

Save money while making your home more energy-efficient

Home energy rebates help you get money back on home improvements that can make your home more energy efficient, comfortable, and help you save on utility costs in the long run. Some of these rebates are available as standard up front discounts on the equipment or installation costs, and other rebates are determined based on the type of work you want done.

Program Details

New Mexico launched The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program in September 2024 to give homeowners discounts on energy efficient improvements that could help them save on utility bills and make their homes safer and more comfortable.

What can you get?

Currently, New Mexico offers the following home electrification and appliance rebates:

  • up to $1,600 off ENERGY STAR certified blanket, (roll or batt) or rigid board insulation  purchased at participating retailers for low-income single-family homeowners.
  • $840 – ENERGY STAR® certified electric heat pump clothes dryer
  • $840 - ENERGY STAR® certified Electric or Induction cooktop, stove, range, or oven
  • $4,000 – Electric service panel load upgrade
  • $2,500 – Electric wiring
Who is eligible?

Currently, New Mexico’s HEAR rebates are available to homeowners whose household income is 80% or less of their area median income. The income threshold will depend on your household size and county. You may also be eligible if you participate in a specific state or federal benefit program like Medicaid or SNAP. Check if you’re eligible here.

How to apply

The first thing to do is complete the “What do I qualify for?” screener here.  To apply, you’ll need to prove that you own your house and verify your income (this is usually done with tax returns). Learn more at the program website here.
